THE BARAKA
LEARNING CENTRE
LEARNING CENTRE
The Baraka Learning Centre is based in a rural setting in the Central Provence of Zambia near the town of Kapiri-Mposhi. The Learning Centre has been a long held dream of our team and officially opened in 2019 with the aim of significantly raising the standard of education in the area and supporting the wider community.
The schools in the vicinity are poorly funded and horribly under-resourced. The Learning Centre provides the support and educational resources to help about 20 schools, its teachers and its pupils to achieve a higher level of academic success. All lessons and sessions are free of charge and for those schools that can't access the Learning Centre, we provide an outreach programme that takes the Learning Centre to the schools. |
The Learning Centre is equipped with an IT suite with 30 laptops, and outdoor classroom and a store room full of books and teaching resources. The educational programme is planned, delivered and evaluated by young Zambian teachers with the support and advice of British educationalists.
We have just completed the building of a new office for the Baraka Zambia team and a dormitory for children and teachers who live further afield has also just been completed. We are in the process of building a library/classroom block and a second dormitory to complete our infrastructure. We have also just started work on developing a playground and a play bus. |
