THE BARAKA
LEARNING CENTRE
LEARNING CENTRE
The Baraka Learning Centre is based in a rural setting in the Central Provence of Zambia near the town of Kapiri-Mposhi. The Learning Centre has been a long held dream of our team and officially opened in 2019 with the aim of significantly raising the standard of education in the area and supporting the wider community.
The schools in the vicinity are poorly funded and horribly under-resourced. The Learning Centre provides the support and educational resources to help about 30 schools, its teachers and its pupils to achieve a higher level of academic success. All lessons and sessions are free of charge and for those schools that can't access the Learning Centre, we provide an outreach programme that takes the Learning Centre to the schools. The Learning Centre is equipped with an IT suite with 30 laptops, a fully stocked library, a brand new science block, various outdoor learning areas, a play bus, a playground and a variety of sports and fitness facilities. The educational programme is planned, delivered and evaluated by young Zambian teachers with the support and advice of British educationalists.
The complex also consists of two dormitories for visiting teachers and students and an office where Baraka Zambia is based. |
